Dr. Allan Bailey is a comprehensive family physician in a group, community-based practice in Spruce Grove and Clinical Professor, Department of Family Medicine, University of Alberta. He is a member of the Alberta Chapter of Family Physicians - Future of Family Medicine Strategic Committee, Director of the Westview Community Teaching Site (University of Alberta – Department of Family Medicine), and Chair of the Research and Evaluation Committee for the Westview PCN.
He contributed to primary care reform for Alberta through former roles as Board Chair and member of the Westview Primary Care Network (PCN), past chair of the Provincial PCN Leads Executive, member of the Representative Forum and Section of Family Medicine Executive (Alberta Medical Association). He was a co-designer of the Blended Capitation Model remuneration option for Alberta physicians. Between 1999-2012 he served as Site Medical Director for Westview Health Centre (30-bed hospital with Emergency Department and Day Surgery) in Stony Plain.
Current interests include mental health (especially youth) and social innovation, social labs and collective impact as process models for change in healthcare and the education sector. Dr. Bailey believes upstream interventions that bridge the conventional health mandate with evidence-based urban design principles can achieve a healthier built environment with a positive impact on the physical and social determinants of population health.
