Mark Watt is a National Quality Improvement (QI) and Change Management Advisor and an early adopter of QI and research in healthcare settings. He discovered his passion for quality improvement while working as an emergency room nurse for ten years. Mark is a Master-Trainer in QI, holds multiple Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) certifications with advanced skills in measurement and evaluation, is a certified Research Associate, and holds an MSc in Primary Care.

Federally, Mark advises leadership, QI and quality assessment teams for correctional services. He specializes in building and implementing logic models, measurement plans, performance indicators, practical tools and electronic dashboards to assess, advance and sustain healthcare improvements.

As a former Director at the Alberta Medical Association (AMA) and the ENACT program, Mark led a team of qualitative data collection specialists to design data collection, analysis and reporting to support primary care research. His involvement in AMA’s TOP EPICS and TRAC2 QI programs ensured that evaluation and measurement plans were defined and established to demonstrate impact. Under Mark’s leadership as a Director with Alberta Health Services his team achieved a Hospital Level 6 HIMSS designation moving the hospital to full electronic documentation and tracking system.
