Yvette Penman brings over 25 years experience in population health, not-for-profit management, policy development and implementation, quality improvement, and health service redesign. She assisted in the launch of Health Innovation Action including application for over $6 million in grants. As Executive Director of Alberta’s tenth Primary Care Network, she oversaw data analysis, business planning, quality improvement, human resources and continuing medical education. In partnership with others, Yvette designed and implemented innovative programs to address service gaps and respond to health, policy and resource issues. Her collaborative efforts elevated primary care, addressed needs stemming from social determinants of health, and resulted in high impact, sustainable changes.
As a Primary Care Quality Improvement Consultant with Alberta Health Services, Yvette worked on initiatives to improve access, safety and quality in home care, urgent care, neurosciences, hospitalist services, discharge planning and emergency departments. In a Tobacco Reduction leadership role, Yvette led community coalitions and advocacy efforts resulting in widespread implementation of smoke-free policies in public spaces. She led a first time in Canada policy which has since spread from health facilities in the Calgary Zone to post-secondary institutions, and recreation and correction services across Canada. Yvette is a recipient of two People First awards, the highest award presented by Calgary Health Region.
